Women face bias even today. Particularly, the condescension that she is woman and that’s how she will behave still persists. Interestingly, both men and woman hold on to this behavioral stereotyping and judge woman accordingly.
Victoria Brescoll, a post-doctoral scholar at Yale University in her research paper "When Can Angry Women Get Ahead?" notes another bias “that for a professional woman anger expression may lead to a decrease rather than an increase in her status".
Revealingly, both men and woman surveyed had similar reactions to an angry women. Brescoll said the findings revealed a "difficult paradox" for professional women -- while anger can serve as a powerful tool to achieve status at work, women may have to behave calmly in order to be seen as rational.
