The medicalization of sex

Body insecurity issues are fueling some women to go in for female genital cosmetic procedures (surgery) like labiaplasty, clitoral un-hooding, G-spot augmentation and hymen reconstruction.

The desire for ‘designer vaginas,’ undoubtedly brought on by peer- pressure and the media has created a market for such procedures. However, a few organizations like the New View Campaign have staged organized protests against what they call ‘the medicalization of sex’.

When someone with the stature of Jane Fonda enhances her breasts for Ted Turner, it is too much to expect these less enlightened women to resist the chance to augment their bodies.
