Ruptures on FLAG FEA, SMW4, and SMW3 lines, near the Alexandria cable station in Egypt and a fault reported on the GO submarine cable 130km off Sicily have combined together to disrupt Internet and telephone communications between Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Experts believe that it may take days to rectify the faults.
Readers may remember that a similar event took place around 10 months ago. Though it is too early to rule out sabotage it is believed the area registered tremor just prior to the event.
