How healthy is a swimming pool?

A recent Water Quality and Health Council survey found the following unhealthy public swimming pool behaviour.

Actually, you can amend it to do you know what is in the swimming pool because, private or public this unhealthy behaviour transcends the ownership of the pool.

Mull on this:

Almost half (47%) of respondents admit to one or more behaviors that contribute to an unhealthy pool.

One in five (17 percent) say they have urinated in the pool.

Eight in ten (78 %) are convinced their fellow swimmers are guilty.

As for showering, roughly, one-third (35%) pass the shower without stopping and three quarters (73%) say their fellow swimmers fail to shower before swimming.

These findings may put us all off from swimming. However, it is not as calamitous as it seems. Here are Six Steps of Healthy Swimming: Protection Against Recreational Water Illnesses (RWIs).

Following these six steps and change in attitude will make swimming a pleasant occasion.
