Vikram’s magnum opus ‘Kanthaswamy’

Susi Ganesan directed Vikram – Shriya starrer ‘Kanthawsamy,’ is a magnum opus even before its release on August 21, 2009.

For the record the 60 crore ‘Kanthaswamy’ is the first Tamil film to be release in the maximum number of theatres in the Chennai.

According to Abirami Ramanathan, who is distributing the film in Chennai city on the opening day of advance booking (Aug 16), 1, 46, 976 tickets worth Rs 95, 22,498 from 18 screens were sold thus creating a new city record for first day booking.

The film producer, Kalaipuli Dhanu expects to recover the expenses incurred while shooting the film in the 1st week itself. In addition, the ‘Kanthaswamy’ songs scored by Sri Devi Prasad are already among the top downloaded songs scorching the Internet.

The fact that ‘Kanthaswamy’ is released simultaneously worldwide in UK, USA, Europe, Malaysia, Singapore and Canada adds to its appeal.

With 900 prints set to hit the screens next Friday, ‘Kanthaswamy’ may well turn out to be the biggest ever release for a south Indian film.
