Australia refines section 48 of the migration act.

Foreigners on expired temporary visas and in a relationship with an Australian citizen or a resident will no longer have to leave Australia to apply for a visa to stay with their partners.


The change to immigration law, section 48 of the Migration act, which takes effect next Monday, means that foreigners can remain in Australia until a favorable decision on their application for partner visa's is taken by the Australian immigration department.
